The Risks of Doing Nothing

A summons is a formal court document that notifies you of legal action against you. Ignoring it is a serious mistake. If you don’t respond within the required timeframe (usually 10 court days), the plaintiff can ask the court to grant default judgment — meaning they can win the case without you being heard. A default judgment can lead to a court order for payment, asset attachment, or even a credit record listing. Always take legal notices seriously and act fast to protect your rights.
